Can my computer defragment when it's on standby mode?

My external complex drive was surrounded by desperate need to be defragmented and it is singular 30% completed. It has be on for quite awhile and I want to know if it can be put on a standby mode and still do the errand.

Can my computer defragment when it's on standby mode?

No it can't.
I don't think that it is possible because defragmentation can use up moderately a bit of CPU power which would cause your computer to jump out of standby mode.

Since you are defragmenting an external hard drive, why don't you verbs using your computer while it is still defragmenting?

Disk Defragmenter sometimes stops at 60-70%, in that covering you are almost actually 50% done the total process.

If you would like to log past its sell-by date, shut down, hibernate or restart your computer at any time, just stop the defragmentation. It will still enjoy defragmented a large booth of the drive and you can restart the process after you have restarted, etc. the computer.
