Computer audio glitch every 3 second and continuous!!!?

There is this split second time away every 3 seconds or thereabouts and it is continuous, beside no break to the pattern.

I am using Windows XP and I do run an anit-virus.

It is like peas in a pod with any medium player (Windows, Real, Quick Time, etc.). Plus the glitch is not just nouns but movement on a video too - occurs at same time as nouns glitch.

Have updated the drivers for the soundcard and this didn't solve it. I then uninstalled and reinstalled the drivers, again this didn't solve it. I enjoy also updated Direct X, still not solved.

Not sure what else I can try. Any help appreciated - gratefulness in credit.

Watch your Processor usage and RAM usage by right clicking the taskbar and selecting Task Manager. See if your system is maxing out while you are playing music.
Try uninstalling the driver, and the card and try it again.
You computer nouns and video are glitching because your hard drive have become too fragmented. I would still start with checking your nouns and video drivers to insure they are current. But also go to START, ACCESSORIES, SYSTEM TOOLS, DISK DEFRAGMENTER and select ANALYZE. This will let somebody know you how much your drive is fragmented and if you need to run the defragmenter.
