Clearing my harddrive?

how can i completly clear my harddrive up to that time i get rid of it? the entity is that my motherboard is now useless. so if i could screw it up plenty, that would work too. would a magnet work for this?

ur mother board is useless? alrt so u cant boot or start the pc any , unless u want to clear ur harddrive by plugging it to someone elses pc yes i guess a powerful magnet can do the opportunity , but its better to take it to someones workstation and make it as a lower disk and then accomplish format ...or u may geta bootable floppy and perform fdisk that will verbs the partitions also
i reflect on its actually impossible to completely clear your sturdy drive to the point where someone beside some really good software could rest the data. The just way would be to physically verbs the hard drive.
Actually you can bring back some software for this. Why you are trying to do is called a low plane format. This takes a few hours and will completely wipe adjectives data from the drive. Just do a turn upside down for low level format software and this will switch it for you short of physical damage to the drive. Also a simple repartition and format does doa pretty thorough mission of wiping the drive beyond most users means to recover
They say-so to put 256 encryption all over it. Kim Komando have excellent articles on what to do in your situation. Her site is unyielding to search though.
Its better to inflict physical damage to the platter - any take it apart and smash the individual pieces, or use a drill to drill holes within it.
in MY COMPUTER navigate to ur drive consequently right click = FORMAT DRIVE- then it'll guide u through the steps
