We lately switched from Pc to Mac and we have no clue what some of the things are...(obviously) any recomendations for books or manual or dvds that will help???

Go to www.apple.com for support for your model. They will hold the best documentation to use there.
i own a mac, if your computer gets stuck( a short time rainbow circle) dont turn ur computer off. Just articulate it gets stuck wen ur on word, afterwards go 2 the apple at the top departed corner of the screen click on it, and stir 2 force quit, then force quit word and it will be in motion away. hope that helps :))
A perfect OSX manual would be willing to help...but it's not necessary. Scroll over the dock...the lump of icons at the bottom of your peak and you will see which program each controls. One of the icon is for System Preferences. Click on this one and spend some time checking out each of the icon it displays. You can learn abundantly about how to do stuff on your computer by looking at them. Don't evolution the settings from the default, until you know what you're doing, but as you acquire familiar near your new Mac you can customize it to fit your situation!
You've probably already discovered that lower than the blue apple in the upper disappeared are commands for shutdown and restart as okay as Force Quit. An earlier answerer mentioned Force Quit, and it will come within handy should a program ever hang up on you.
