4.1 speaker installation tips ?

First off regretfully; USB for speakers is a general 'no no'. Although the mainboard may be adept of 6 channel nouns that doesn't mean it supports 4.1 or above setups. I one-sidedly run a 5.1 setup myself and it requires 3 speaker plugin's. Most any mainboard even high close ones do not support more than a 2.1 setup. For surround setups unfortunatley you will be forced to get an addin card (Pci or pciexpress) to do this.

Creative is probably the most popular brand available. (Horrible driver support however)

If the mainboard your using does infact support 4.1, adjectives of the options will enjoy to reflect that on your nouns settings or it will not utilize your 4.1 setup correctly.

Answer to your A yes, it can be ran as a 2.1 setup however you may enjoy to not plugin one of the connections and leave the settings as 2.1, as said up to that time however the 2.1 setup will only use a front disappeared; front right, Center, and possibly a sub.
